On February 20 at 11:00 Central Time, the financial management research team from APQC will present a webinar on the financial close process, which involves all activities needed to close an organization’s books, perform all necessary inter-company accounting and reconciliation steps, finalize consolidated financial statements, and release earnings and publish official statements with regulators such as the SEC.
Research shows that the close is growing more strained at large, complex corporations. The webinar will examine the causes for this and suggest ways to make the financial close process clearly defined, well-governed, and highly efficient. A tight focus will be put on best practices that touch four areas: processes, people, technology, and governance. Discussions will hinge on how IT solutions in this space can reduce cost and error, but speakers will also address the folly of treating IT as a cure-all.
Webinar speakers:• Mary Driscoll, Senior Research Fellow, APQC (moderator)• Kyle Cheney, Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP • Norman Marks, Vice President, SAP and former chief audit executive at major corporations • Elizabeth Milne, Solutions Marketing Executive, SAP
